Amazon Web Services came to Merchology wanting to recognize employees around the country for their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Saying “thank you” via a surprise box of custom merch shipped to their home doorsteps only seemed fitting. With a large order quantity and direct drop shipping to hundreds of addresses, this order required a dedicated representative and timely project management. After receiving mockups and quotes almost instantly after showing interest, they decided Merchology was the one for the job.
By utilizing our MerchBox services, Amazon Web Services took their custom gift vision to the next level. The combination of their favorite products, the clean logo decoration, the assembly and presentation and the direct shipping allowed for the perfect surprise.

We interviewed the project lead from Amazon to learn about the goals, processes, and results of this special project.
What was the goal of this project?
Employee engagement and satisfaction. We have a group of employees that didn’t have an option to work from home as the world was turned upside-down. We needed to do everything we could to make sure they were safe and secure first and foremost, and then do something that would be impactful and demonstrate to our employees that Amazon cares about them. That was the overall thought; something meaningful and impactful that tied in with their mission, as well as to celebrate the 4th of July. But beyond that, something that their families could enjoy as well. The families are making just as many sacrifices during these times. The fact that we could send something home showed their families how much we appreciate our employees and them as well.
We spoke with another vendor who was not nearly as excited about the project or willing to offer suggestions and work with me to customize this project. When contacted, Merchology offered suggestions and really cared about the goal of our project. It gave us confidence to work with Merchology.
What impressed you the most?
The quality of the engraving on the YETI drinkware was very impressive. The art tied it back to the theme of the gift. We wanted something patriotic, and versatile for any household. A custom YETI with our red, white and blue logo decoration was the perfect choice.
What was your favorite part of the project?
The best part of the project was the anticipation and element of surprise of knowing this cool gift was going to show up all over the country to our employees’ homes. It was great that all the curated boxes were shipped out in just a few days’ time, so word of the gift did not spread to recipients before they had a chance to receive it. The reaction and feedback from the employees has been outstanding - they (and their families) really love it!
What were your top vendor requirements or needs for this project?
We had multiple requirements like the quality of products, the ability to send out hundreds of packages within a few days, attention to detail, and responsiveness from our customer service representative. Having a dedicated person to work with at Merchology who was willing to be creative was amazing.
